Ready to go!

Coast to coast, what an amazing adventure it will be! The desire to do this trip has been in the back of my mind ever since I spent 2 months in California back in -05. For those of you that remember, I had a travelblog related to that trip as well. I never mentioned my future plans then in that blog, but trust me, I was definitely thinking about it. Finally it's happening!

This blog will chronicle the adventures of Dan, Pontus, Tomasz and myself. Four Swedes from Helsingborg, Sweden set out to experience the multitude of people that is the United States of America. What will we encounter? Will the experience change us in any way? Can I gain any weight !???
Only time will tell....as this well as this blog ;).

Detailed planning for this trip started after I posted a question on facebook in february, asking for travel partners. The three guys pictured above (not counting myself -_-) responded (among other people of course, who wouldn't want to go on this trip ;) ??) with enthusiasm and the first thing booked was our flight. Four months later with _a lot_ of planning done, we're ready to go !
I sure hope every hotel has a washing machine!

I've laid out a course reaching certain places that have always piqued my interest. Sadly, I haven't had time to add all the POIs to my GPS yet, but this is where I am at the moment, the day before we leave. Since it's zoomed out to show the whole country, it's not clearly visible that there are several points in more than one place (not just LA), but they're there!

No, we will not be driving along "Route 66". That particular stretch of America goes from Chicago Through Oklahoma and Arizona to ultimately reach the west coast by entering southern california. As you can see on this picture (with our largest stops pointed out) we will take a slightly different route =). Maybe we'll leave the interstate highway when we're around Flagstaff, AZ to drive along state highway 66, which was part of the now famous but defunct old route.
The red line is the historic Route 66

Whatever happens, I'm sure we'll have a wonderful time! I'll try to post as often as I can (and remember) here during our month-long stay out west, but remember that I become more motivated to post here if I receive comments on the posts. Perhaps my fellow travelers will write on the blog as well. I'm sure they also feel the same way, feedback is always appreciated =D. We will also be posting on instagram/facebook using the tag #4swedescoast2coast.

WOHOO !!
